- Sealion Shipping Signed Up for the Challenge.

4 June 2007

We decided to participate in the BG Energy Challenge because it provides a fantastic opportunity to get to know people outside our normal working environment, raise funds for very worthy causes and, at the same time, spend a fantastic weekend in the Highlands of Scotland.

The BG Energy Challenge is like a tradition for us. I was told about it as soon as I joined the company. The people who participated last year told me it was so much fun and, judging by the pictures which are still in our public drive, it must have been!

We started our fundraising campaign one month ago and I must say that all our friends and colleagues have given very generously. So far we have set up a fundraising page and e-mailed the details to all our contacts: friends, suppliers, contractors, business partners...and we are really impressed with the result. Now that the weather is getting better we are going to organise a barbecue at work and are also planning to put our wellies on and hold a car washing day. Hopefully, our colleagues and friends from neighbouring offices will benefit from it.

Starting our training has been a little harder! In March we realised that the clock was ticking and decided to join the local gym. Only one of us is a regular runner, so a good workout was definitely required before even contemplating running 5 miles. We are attending the gym, running together during the week and also on our own over the weekends. In the gym we have opted for the spinning session on the bike - our first session was a sight for sore eyes indeed! The girls prefer aerobics classes to improve their endurance and all of us have taken up body combat which has gained us some respect in the office - nobody dares to cross us now!

Whilst we still are not very confident about being able to run 5 miles, we can certainly feel the difference and will endeavour to keep it up until July!
