TRANSOCEAN WIN INAGURAL BG ENERGY CHALLENGE IN INDIA
Nineteen teams from Oil & Gas sector participated in the Challenge in India

Mumbai, March 18, 2008: BG India, announced today that the team from Transocean had been declared the overall winner in the inaugural BG Energy Challenge event, which took place in Garud Maachi, near Pune, Maharashtra, from 14 to 16 March.

The BG Energy Challenge 2008 - India, took place over one and a half days involving a number of different stages which combined physical, mental and strategic challenges. The participants comprised teams from different companies working in, or associated with, the energy industry. Nineteen teams travelled to Garud Maachi for the inaugural event in India, representing 18 companies across the industry spectrum. The BG Energy Challenge 2008 - India was organised in collaboration with Snow Leopard Adventures, one of the leading adventure tour operators in India.

Kapil Garg, Managing Director, BG India, said: "It is always beneficial to be able to network with colleagues and peers; to take part in team building opportunities outside the office environment and, when this is combined with supporting a worthy cause through our own efforts, the rewards are greatly enhanced."

The BG Energy Challenge 2008 - India brought people together from across the energy sector and its related industries in India to network and participate in a series of competitive teambuilding events while raising money for two charities renowned for their work in raising cancer awareness in India, Cancer Patients' Aid Association (CPAA) and Women's Cancer Initiative - Tata Memorial Hospital (WCI).
Abhishek Kumar, Team Captain of the Transocean team said: "Competing at this challenge was a unique experience. My teammates and I came much closer to each other as we pitted our strength and wits against some formidable competition! I think we are taking away from the BG Energy Challenge, a lot more than the winner’s trophy.We look forward to being the defending champs for the next year’s Challenge!"

Teams which competed in the inaugural BG Energy Challenge 2008 - India in addition to the hosts were: ONGC, OIL, Hardy, GGCL, MGL, Baker Hughes INTEQ , BJ Services, Transocean, Premier Oil, ENSCO, Essar, HSBC, Swiber Offshore Marine, GAIL, Ernst & Young, and an Exhibition team from BG comprising their top management in India. The charities nominated to benefit from the India event, CPAA and WCI also fielded a team jointly.

The energy industry is one which relies heavily on the ability of many companies to work in close partnership and collaboration with each other to meet our growing energy needs efficiently. And, one of the key drivers behind the BG Energy Challenge 2008 - India was to provide an opportunity for employees to network and build strong teams within their company. The teams enjoyed themselves tremendously while taking part in the specially designed activities.

Mr. S Vasudeva, team captain of ONGC said: " This was an excellent opportunity for my team and we had a wonderful time participating in the BG Energy Challenge 2008 - India. Every bit of effort seemed worth it, since we were raising money for a most deserving cause. We look forward to joining the next challenge."

Mr. Sanjeev Bansal, captain of the team from Premier Oil said,: "While we thoroughly enjoyed all the physical and mental challenges of the BG Energy Challenge 2008 - India; our experience was enhanced further by the fact that we met so many of our peers in a completely different environment. I am sure the friendships we formed here will last a long time!"

Mr. Garg added: "We wanted to create a unique opportunity for people from all locations to come together outside our normal business, to have fun and get to know each other, while raising funds for a cause which we believe needs to be supported very seriously, and this is what we have aspired to do with the BG Energy Challenge in India, "
