What do I need to bring?

You need a backpack during the event to carry your day’s supply of water and snacks. It is recommended you keep the items that you carry on your back to the essential minimum. A few hours of hiking will make the load seem a lot heavier than it actually is.

A separate bag with other items will be kept at the hotel for your use before and after camping.

The following is a checklist of recommended items to bring on the trip:

Day Pack   Hotel Bag
Backpack
Proper hiking shoes ** (preferably above ankle)
Extra batteries
Socks (recommended 2 for each day)
First Aid Kit (one per team) **
Hiking pants / shorts (no jeans)
Hat (wool)
Water (will be provided by organizers)
Layers (silk and wool best to keep you warm and absorb the moisture)
Hat ** (wide rim for sun)
Scarf (to cover back of neck)
  Wind-breaker (optional)
Lightweight jacket **
  Change of Clothes
Flashlight (torch) **
  Pyjamas
Light snacks (trail mix, nuts, fruits)
  Regular shoes/sandals/or flippers
Hydrating drinks / powder (optional)
  Toiletries
Compass / GPS (optional, if you know how to use one)
  Insect repellent
Hiking sticks (if possible)
  Personal medication
Sun cream

Camera

Sunglasses
** Mandatory items per participant. Participants will not be allowed to hike without those items.

As you prepare for the challenge, pack as if you will be carrying all the bags yourself.

The lighter, the better!
