2004 saw the birth of the partnership between BG Egypt and CARE Egypt in organising the first ever BG Energy Challenge in Egypt. This event included more than 120 participants who hiked an average of eight hours each day for two days, conquering Egypt’s highest mountain, Mt. Katherine, on the second day.

In 2005, the partnership between BG and CARE continued with the second BG Energy Challenge in Egypt which attracted 26 teams who raised funds, hiked, climbed, and camped for two days in the serene valleys, gardens and mountains of Sinai.

2006 marked the relaunch of the BG Energy Challenge in its new format which took place in Hurghada. 29 teams were presented with a set of mental and physical challenges. Watching the teams cross the finish line arm in arm, looking out for each other, is what makes the BG Energy Challenge so special. The 2007 event promises to be an exciting mix of challenges, drawing on people’s leadership, communication and team building skills.

The BG Energy Challenge – Egypt is part of an international series of events by BG Eygpt’s parent company BG Group. Since 1996, BG Energy Challenges worldwide have contributed over £3.7 million ($6.8 million) to charity.
