Taking part in the BG Energy Challenge is about more than an exciting weekend in the great outdoors; it is also about raising essential funds for charity.

Each team is asked to raise a minimum of $4,000 for the event charity and organisers CARE Egypt.

Since 2004 the event has raised more than $580,000 for CARE Egypt. Funds raised this year will be allocated to CARE's development programmes benefitting women and children in Upper Egypt. Two specific projects will benefit: The Social Protection project, which works with victims of violence and/or discrimination; and the Education project, which focuses on improving the livelihood of marginalised girls through education.

Since 1996, worldwide BG Energy Challenge events have raised over $7million for various charities.
