Taking part in the BG Energy Challenge is about more than an exciting weekend in the great outdoors; it is also about raising essential funds for charity.

This year the BG Energy Challenge will raise funds for two important charities; CARE International, and Sparks. CARE International is one of the world’s largest independent relief and development organisations, working in more than 70 countries and benefiting over 48 million poor and marginalised people. Sparks is a children’s charity aimed at helping all babies to be born healthy and grow up healthy by funding medical research to tackle conditions including cerebral palsy, meningitis, spina bifida, childhood arthritis and cancers.

  • To take part in the event, teams are required to raise a minimum of £5,000 each. Some teams from the 2007 event raised more than double this amount. In total, the 32 teams raised just over £205,000 in 2007.
  • Teams have the choice to donate all of the money raised to either charity or split the funds equally between the two.
  • Since 1996, worldwide BG Group Energy Challenges have contributed over £3.7 million for charity.
