TEAM XODUS BLOG

Introduction to the Teams

This year Xodus has entered two teams again and this has been branded the contest to end all contests, the showdown of showdowns - Boys vs. Girls, the re-match! The boys have said this will be the year they’ll show the ladies how it’s done, the ladies say nothing - after all actions speak louder than words.

We see the BG Energy Challenge as a great opportunity for us to work as a team and meet other like-minded people. The first part of the challenge allows us to fundraise for two great charities, Sparks and CARE International. We have a target to reach but we hope we can go well beyond this and really help contribute to the work that these charities do.

The Boys

if the girls beat us..." anon

This year the boy’s team is comprised of Christopher Cooper, Colin Dunne, Elliot MacDonald, Euan Sinclair and John Foreman with the leader yet to be Unveiled! Chris and Elliot have both participated in the past providing the experience in the team but the rest of the guys are new to the challenge so we hope they are prepared for what they have let themselves in for!

The Girls

The ladies team are Bronagh McKendry, Caragh McWhirr, Carrie Anderson, Deborah Rogers from the Aberdeen office and Jo Lester and Vanessa Eibig from our London counterparts. Most members of the team have participated in the BG Energy Challenge before so have a rough idea of what to expect and know to be ready for anything! Jo is new to the Xodus team line up but from what we’ve heard she could be the one to watch.

Fundraising

As it is in the spirit of the challenge to build bonds and work as a team, the Boys and Girls have joined forces to fundraise this year. So far we raised money through the Grand National sweep stakes, office Bonus Ball and baking.

Our big fundraising hits have included a fundraising dinner on 16 June in Aberdeen with local sports stars including Jason White former Scotland Rugby Union Captain. The event helped raise over £7 500 and was attended by over 80 people. Caragh is also looking to add over £1 000 raised through her cycle of La Marmotte, a 110 mile one day bike race over Mont Blanc which she completed on 2 July!

So as you can see we’ve raised our money and are in fine physical condition - roll on Swansea!
