CARE combine Training and Fundraising!

We’re delighted so many teams have started fundraising already – starting early really is one of the best ways to reach (and smash) your fundraising target of £5,000. Our other main tip is to keep your activities simple and fresh!

So where to start? Well first you need to set up your fundraising page and then let people know that you are fundraising! A quiz is always a fantastic way to spread the word and incorporate a couple of fundraising games – including raffles, pot lucks and auctions. They are relatively simple to set up – ask your local pub and guarantee them lots of punters on the night which is good news for everyone!

One of our favourite fundraising ideas we’ve heard about for this year’s event is the chilli plant competition organised by BG Group teams. They have bought and potted chilli seeds and once they have started sprouting, sold them for £12 each.  Now people are growing them on their desks and there is going to be a competition for best plant and hottest chilli!

Another great fundraising event teams are organising is a BBQ – now the evenings are getting lighter and the days warmer, it’s much nicer to be outside.  It’s really cheap to set up a BBQ – you could even do it in your work car park at lunchtime. A great alternative I’ve come across is organising a curry night – you can ask your local restaurant for a discounted set meal, then charge friends and colleagues £10 a head more.  You can even organise a raffle to make a bit more money on the night.

We’ve been really impressed that many of you are combining training and fundraising which is a great idea. There are lots of running events taking place around the country you can sign up to – visit www.runnersworld.co.uk to find one near you.  It is difficult to combine working, fundraising, training and the rest of your life, so the more multi tasking you can do the better!

Remember, the more you raise now, the easier it will be to reach your target, so do keep sending your online sponsorship pages out (emails, facebook, intranet…) – keeping them personalised with team pictures really does help motivate people to sponsor you.

Thank you for your ongoing support and good luck!
