What do I need to bring?

All specialist equipment will be provided by the event organisers. This includes safety equipment such as PFDs (personal flotation devices for water based events) and helmets for cycling. Food will also be provided throughout the event though teams may wish to bring their own snacks.

Clothing and equipment to be brought by every team member must include as a minimum:

Tent

Either one big enough for your whole team or a couple of smaller ones. Remember you will need to carry the tent(s) on Stage 3 so a lighter tent will definitely be an advantage.

Running / cross training type shoes

Footwear should have adequate grip for steep ground. 

Lightweight trousers and T-shirt.

Trousers should be suitable for cycling – smooth seams to avoid chaffing.

Warm top

Synthetic material such as polyester fleece is preferable to cotton.

Lightweight waterproof top and trousers.

Top must have a hood and taped seams are preferable.

Warm hat

 

Water stage clothing including spare shoes.

Shorts, T-shirt and shoes that can get wet – shoes are compulsory.

Torch

A head torch is preferable. Please bring spare batteries

Sun cream

 

Sunglasses

 

Baseball cap

 

Water bottle / hydration system

Must be a minimum of 1 litre capacity

Adequate food for the stage.

With the exception of the night stage, the maximum stage length is 3 hours.  Please bring you own supply of high energy type foods if you think you will require it during the stage.

Notebook, pen or pencil.

 

Small rucksack

To carry personal equipment whilst competing.

Insect repellent

Insects can be irritating at Zerendy.

Casual clothes for around base camp.

Include warm clothes for when not competing and the party on Saturday night.

Passport and medical insurance details.

A safe is available at the Base Camp for these items.

Personal medications

To be carried throughout the challenge if necessary and clearly marked.

Full set of very warm clothes for camping.

Including spare warm socks

A sleeping bag (2 season minimum)

 

A pillow (if desired)

 

A sleeping pad (mattress)

Karrimat or similar outdoor brand is preferable

Wash kit and towel

The first aid kit must have as a minimum: a triangular bandage; a large wound dressing; a selection of plasters for minor cuts; micropore tape; disposable gloves, a pencil and paper.

Large plastic survival bag that an injured/cold team member can fit into.
