The
Centro Brasileiro Pró-Vida , an organisation created in 2004 by Dr. Rawlson de Thuin, was the institution chosen to be benefited by the teams participating in the BG Energy Challenge 2008 - Brazil. Each year a philanthropic institution is selected to receive the funds collected by the competitors. In the previous year a total of R$ 157,000 was donated to two organisations that support children with serious health problems: Casa de Apoio à Criança com Câncer Santa Teresa (CACCST) and the Pró-Criança Cardíaca. In 2008, all of the funds collected will be specifically earmarked for Centro de Tratamento de Anomalias Craniofaciais supported by Pró-Vida.

Centro Brasileiro Pró-Vida is a non-profit civil association that prioritizes activities in the fields of health, education, the environment, culture and income generation. Founded in 2004, Pró-Vida's mission is to promote and organize actions in needy communities that contribute to the improvement in the quality of life of the families excluded economically, socially and culturally. These initiatives lead to better personal and community development, mainly in the more vulnerable segments such as the infant and youth segments. Pró-Vida has a multidisciplinary team of professionals along with a large number of volunteers and partners whose work supplements and boosts the institution's overall activities.
In the short-term, the main focus of Centro Brasileiro Pró Vida is to obtain a location to set up a “Support Home” for patients with craniofacial deformities, burn consequences and those with other deformations.
Pró-Vida's office would be located at the Home, facilitating patient triage, surgical preparation and recovery, wi th post -operat ion medical and psychological support for recovering patients. By dealing with needy families, this support is designed to also help their social reinsertion and to help their family members. The Centre will have a staff of professionals and volunteers, with fully equipped operating rooms and other medical facilities.
